Blood Group (ABO & Rh)

Finds your blood group (A, B, AB, O) and Rh factor (positive or negative) — important before surgery, pregnancy and donation.

Your blood group is set by markers (antigens) on the surface of red cells. Knowing it is essential before a transfusion or surgery and early in pregnancy.

When the mother is Rh negative and the father Rh positive, the doctor follows the pregnancy closely and may give an Anti-D injection at set times to protect future pregnancies.

Preparation before the test

  • No fasting needed; it can be done any time.
