Creatinine, urea and filtration rate (eGFR) — to follow kidney health with blood pressure and diabetes.
The kidneys clear waste products such as creatinine and urea from the blood. High levels mean the kidneys are not filtering well.
The lab calculates the filtration rate (eGFR) from creatinine, age and sex — the best measure of kidney function. People with high blood pressure or diabetes should test at least yearly.
