FBSFasting Blood Sugar (FBS)
Glucose after an 8-hour fast — the first step to find diabetes and prediabetes.
- Blood sample

Sugar measured fasting and after a glucose drink — the standard test for pregnancy diabetes.
A first sample is taken fasting; then you drink a glucose solution (usually 75 g) and further samples are taken after one and two hours while you rest at the lab.
It is usually ordered between weeks 24 and 28 of pregnancy, or when fasting sugar is borderline. The test takes about two and a half hours, so it is done at the branch only.
